I absolutely love this sugar scrub with African black soap! I use it in the shower as a full-body scrub, but itâs especially great for heels, knees, and elbows. Itâs gentle, doesnât irritate my sensitive skin, and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth and moisturized, never dry or stripped. I havenât used it on my face and plan to keep it as a body scrub only.The scent is strong but not overpowering, with a nice shea butter fragrance. Since it contains African black soap, it has a deep black color, but donât worry, it wonât stain your shower. African black soap is known for its antibacterial and exfoliating properties, and it may even help improve skin tone, texture, and reduce inflammation.Other key ingredients include coconut oil, shea butter, and glycerin, which help protect and deeply hydrate the skin. The scrub has a thick consistency but spreads evenly. Tip: When using it in the shower, turn the water off or direct it away from your body, as even light spray can make it harder to apply evenly.It works incredibly well on dry, rough patches like heels and elbows, rinses away easily, and leaves my skin so soft and smooth. I truly love this scrub and will definitely be buying more!

The African Black Soap line from Shea Moisture has been a favorite of mine since I found it years ago. I have highly sensitive skin, with adult, hormonal acne. These products work, are clean and don’t break me out. This particular scrub is new to me; I haven’t seen it offered prior to this purchase. I have to admit, I was a little confused bc I could not figure out if this was for the face, body, or both. I went on the company website and found no reviews and no real solid info to indicate it’s intended purpose. I did see photos in which the scrub was on the body, and upon receipt, it does seem more like a body scrub. I wish there’d have been more of a clear answer, or description (I chose to just use as a body scrub). However, this product, after using maybe 3x so far, has not let me down. No breakouts or irritation. Just clean, refreshed skin. I’d recommend giving it a try! And if it works for you, definitely check out their other products from the African Black Soap line.

Meh. It’s OK. Lathers up nicely, but I don’t see any major difference in skin. Not gritty enough to exfoliate well. Smells OK. At least it doesn’t dry out skin. But I don’t get the hype and will not buy again.

Black Soap is new to me
As best I can tell from the labeling, this “Shea Sugar Scrub” is made in west Africa and distributed by a US company. The label claims to give back to these West Africa communities. According to the label, care is taken to make this product from renewable sources. Again, according to the label it says that 97% of its “ingredients that keep over half their original structure”. Not sure what that means for sure. The plastic container is made from 35% recycled plastic.What about the scrub? It is different from other scrubs that I have used. Mostly because there is more than just oils and sugar. The Shea content provides the scent, which is nice. Although it is a scrub, and works well as a scrub, it is also a like a lotion and makes your skin feel much softer that oil based scrubs. The black color is weird. The label says African Black Soap, but I’ve not heard of that. It also says charcoal which makes sense to me as well.I do like it. I want to use it longer before I give it 5 stars though.
