I Miss the Menthol/Medicated Fragrance!
Works as well as the Selsun Blue with the red cap (Medicated Maximum Strength) which is the one I buy normally. I was surprised that this shampoo wasn’t blue. It’s a peachy orange…like orange sherbet or mango smoothie. And didn’t have the menthol smell that I like…instead, it smells ambiguously florally-fruity. It’s not an annoying or overpowering scent. It’s very clean. But you can still smell the sulfur from the active ingredient. Unlike other reviewers, I love the blue color, menthol scent, and tingly sensation of the Selsun Blue Medicated Maximum Strength shampoo, so I was disappointed that this was different than what I was used to.After using it a bit more, I do like that this is not as drying as the maximum strength. And even though it is not maximum strength, it works just as well and it helps me keep my stress eczema (on my scalp) under control. I almost have no flair ups now as long as I use this shampoo a couple times a week.Just massage it onto your scalp and let it sit there for a few minutes before rinsing out.If you don’t like the menthol fragrance or the minty/tingly sensation from the other Selsun shampoo, but you still need to use medicated shampoo, give this one a try!NOTE: My dog gets the occasional dermatitis flair up and I use this on him as well. It works on dogs, too. Just keep it away from their face and eyes.

J’utilise ce type de shampoing depuis 50 ans sans problème. A l’origine il était produit sous licence par le labo américain #Abbot. Lorsqu’il est tombé dans le domaine public (au bout de 20 ans) il a été repris par d’autres labos dont l’Oréal sous le nom d’Elsève. Un jour l’Oréal a également arrêté la production car il contient du disulfure de sélénium qui est son produit actif. Ce produit est maintenant interdit en France (ceci étant, je l’ai tout de même utilisé sans aucun problème pendant 40 ans). A vrai dire ce n’est pas un shampoing (c’est à dire qu’il ne lave pas les cheveux) mais un traitement. Il faut laver les cheveux avec un shampoing NEUTRE (ou simplement du savon dit de Marseille qui est neutre) puis appliquer le #Selsun ou celui vendu ici (C’est toujours le même en utilisant une variante dans la formule), le laisser agir pendant 5 à 10 minutes puis rincer abondamment le cuir chevelu pour enlever toute trace du produit . Mais c’est très efficace. Cependant, si vous vous lavez les cheveux tous les deux jours (comme préconisé), il ne faut pas l’utiliser toutes les jours mais une fois toutes les 3 semaines. Cela suffit. C’est un produit très actif. De plus, cette formule est moins pénalisante que le produit d’origine qui laissait pendant 24 heures une odeur de soufre sur le cuir chevelu.
