My dentist recommended this in the “Hydrating” gel, and rinse, and I love them.
My dentist recommended the gel and/or the rinse in the AO hydrating formulas. I BOUGHT BOTH. They are really helping my “dry mouth.” You may not know this, but dry mouth can cause so many problems, like cracked crowns for example. I KNOW because I’ve recently had 2 cracked crowns, and one crown that just fell off, all caused by dry mouth. Dry mouth can also cause mouth sensitivity, as all toothpastes began burning the inside of my mouth except for Biotene Gentle Mint (but it’s so tasteless I don’t feel like I’ve brushed at all, LOL.) but I still have to use it to avoid the burning sensation of all other gentle toothpastes I’ve used. And I’ve tried them all!Anyway, I was also using Biotene gel & rinse for dry mouth, but it didn’t help me much. My dentist said this PerioSciences was developed by a dentist, I believe in Fort Worth, Texas, and is superior to Biotene, by changing the chemistry of your mouth and tissues to correct dry mouth issues. I’m very happy with these Hydrating PerioSciences except for the cost. The gel is my favorite but cost the most. I just put one little dab on the end of my finger then transfer it to my tongue to swish all around my mouth tissues and teeth, then spit out the rest. Do not rinse or eat or drink for 30 minutes.The gel taste takes a little getting used to. It’s a good taste, but odd compared to most dental products because it has the taste of “Sage” in it. Makes me think I’ve just had Thanksgiving dressing/stuffing. But, that’s not a bad taste in fact it’s rather nice; just DIFFERENT from the usual mint or cinnamon of most oral products. I highly recommend !

Not sure anything is happening, or ever will happen
Despite other reviewers talking about the pump action not working after a couple uses, I decided that wouldn’t happen to me and bought this. After 4 uses, the pump action wouldn’t work. I disassembled the all the pieces of the product (very easy to do–it’s all plastic with no small pieces to lose.) The problem seems to be that the gel is too viscous/thick to flow with any regularity up into the pump area. I reassembled and then gave the canister a few vigorous shakes upside down. That did the trick. So maybe that will work for others–shake the canister in vigorous, firm, upside down motions. I think the gel just needs to get moved into the pump top. Which is definitely a design flaw you’d think the company would be able to solve in.Oh well. So now I vigorously shake the bottle a couple times and then pump. In three months I haven’t noticed any positive changes. It’s nice that the product does stay in place when you apply it to your recessed gum area. There’s no odor or taste, which is good. Though at least when I do oil pulling, the powerful scent and tingling gives you at the very least a placebo-effect feeling that something must be happening. I’ve been applying this stuff to one area of very bad gum recession. I’ll keep using it every night, but I have sincere doubts that anything is being helped. If it saves me from expensive, painful, gum reconstruction surgery, that’d be great. My gut says it’s not doing anything.
