The wand is just odd
I’m not a “makeup every day” person. Generally, when I do wear makeup, it’s mascara, CC cream, and lip gloss, very subtle. This mascara is nice. I really like the hefty tube. The product seems smooth. However, the odd, twisted, shape of the wand made application more difficult, and doesn’t seem to add any benefit. The center of the wand has short bristles, while the outer portions have longer bristles. This design deposited more product on the outer portion of my eyelashes and left a gap in the center, which I then had to go back to try to fill in with the fuller end of the wand, which then created more product buildup on the outer lashes as well. I think I would really like this with a more standard shaped wand. Or, maybe there’s some trick to using this wand shape that I don’t understand. I’ll keep trying.

I have terrible luck with mascaras these days. Mostly due to my sensitivity to eye makeup. I keep trying to find a mascara that does not clump, does not dry out and flake and one that I can wear more than an hour before making my eyes tear up so much that I get black circles and red, itchy eyes. I ordered a unique glass tube of Surf Lash Eyelash Mascara from the Pacifica Store. Pacifica boasts about a unique half-pipe twisted wand that makes application easier but I have a difficult time using it. I was encouraged when I read that this mascara is water-resistant and formulated with nourishing jojoba oil, rice, bran wax, and vegan pectin. But I found it clumpy, as clumpy as most mascaras that I’ve tried. After wearing Surf Lash Eyelash Mascara for an hour, I have tiny black flakes of mascara under my eyes and smeared into my liquid undereye concealer. My eyes didn’t itch too badly but wearing the mascara was uncomfortable and so I took it off with soap and water. I needed to use an eye treatment wipe to clean my lids. All said and done, this mascara performed as well as the others I’ve tried, both inexpensive and expensive. I can rate this product with 4 stars, wishing that the brush worked like the standard kind that I am used to.

Not good at all
I’ve used other Pacifica products before and thought it was good enough to try this mascara. I’m sorely disappointed by this one. I don’t understand the wand design, it doesn’t do anything for ease of application. After many coats, I still didn’t get decent coverage. It was uneven and there was residue all over my lid. Too messy looking. I figured if I can’t use it on my lashes, I can use it to thicken my brows. It just clumped and was impossible to even out. This is a miss all around.

There are better options
Like many others said the wand is just terrible. Very hard to apply even in skillful hands. But once I work with it and get even coverage I am happy with the product itself. The color is great and stays on all day. And the water resistance is legitimate. Haven’t tested in ocean water yet but but holds up well through several laps in the pool.But I’d still steer clear of this one. There are better options out there for the money.

Great Glass Container, Band Mascara Wand
I’ve used Pacifica products for many years and appreciate their commitment to clean beauty and the environment.This mascara comes in a glass bottle. It’s thick and doesn’t feel breakable to me. At first I thought it was metal!The mascara itself seems to work well but, unfortunately, the effectiveness is marred by the band applicator wand. It is very curvy and the mascara forms chunks on it. I’ve tried to wip more in the container but it doesn’t seem to work. That leaves me with some chunks on my lashes, which causes flaking.I do have combination skin and a pretty slick sunscreen so I can be prone to smudging. This mascara doesn’t do that and I love it for that. But the wand sucks. Please replace it with a straight one.

Nice Mascara
I really like this Mascara. I don’t find it to be all that clumpy at all. It does a great job of making my lashes look long and it stays all day which is great. I have not really seen any flaking throughout the day either. I also like that it goes on pretty thin which is great for building it up to the perfect amount you like. Great product.

It does define my lashes but with a LOT of work due to the wonky brush! It’s large in one spot then slims down to nothing. I am super disappointed. Works well but takes way longer than mascara needs to if wanting to apply evenly. Meh.

Odd brush, but decent color and coverage
The color on this mascara is rich without being unnatural. It goes on smoothly. I just used a little bit and it didnât clump, but it covered my lashes well. I donât ever go for the heavy, âglamâ look, so just a small amount worked for me. The brush is a bit different than others I have used and I donât love it, but it works alright. I mostly used the tip of the brush more than the whole thing. I like the glass bottle that it comes in.
