I have since bought more bottles, and variations of Valerian root, but when I tell you if you are into autophagic fasting, or ANY kind of long term fasting for health reasons, be SO careful when ingesting this product ð.I was doing a long term fast (monitored by my doctor of course.) I couldnât sleep because I was getting near the cut off point and my vitamins were out of whack. A friend recommended this to me. I took the required dose with some water and got into the bath tub.Within minutes I literally felt kind of how I do when I am drunk. I carefully got out of the bath, wrapped my towel around me, and proceeded to have the best sleep Iâve ever had in my entire life for about 18 hours.THIS STUFF IS WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY. It has no after effects like melatonin and things like that do as well, and it is EXTREMELY effective while on an empty stomach. It does look gross, and the smell is HORRIBLE, but hold you nose, and drop it down the hatch and you will have some of the best sleep of your entire LIFE.

Very useful for relaxation, calming frayed nerves, and gently inducing sleep – I’ve tried various different brands of dried Valerian capsules/tablets in the past and never felt much of an effect from any of them, but this tincture is most definitely “active.” Really nice to have this on hand as a relaxation aid/stress reliever and sleep aid. The capsules also had that characteristic funky odor, and I have to say that while this product definitely has a strong and unmistakable taste and smell to it, the flavor sort of borders on sweet… funky sweet, I guess. But I find it a lot more palatable than the scent that hits you when you open up a jar of valerian capsules. I’ve always found HerbPharm’s products in general to be of high quality, and this one is no exception. Will definitely be ordering again as I am just about out of my current bottle. I’m not a doctor but one thing I’d mention as well as just a little tip from user to user – start out with a small dose and see how it affects you, then gradually increase until you get to know this substance and how it will affect your body. For just general “cup of tea” level relaxation enhancing effects, I take a very small dose; when I’m stressed out or upset about something and want a gentle herbal product to kind of take the edge off, I basically double that small dose; if I’m trying to get to sleep and having a hard time doing so, I take 3x the small dose, maybe 4-5x at times, but really never higher than that or else I feel groggy and foggy upon waking up and it persists for first half of my day. EFFECTIVE SLEEP AID
This valerian tincture was effective at improving my sleep quality, the smell is kind of off-putting, but if you mix it with water or juice you will not even taste it. When using herbs like valerian, hops, skullcap, and/or passionflower it is important to rotate the usage of these herbs (i.e. use valerian for a month, then switch to hops to a month etc.). the reason being is your body can develop a tolerance to these herbs if you use them for too long therefore reducing their effectiveness.

Tastes Terrible But It Works
There’s a reason the directions say to take it with water. It honestly has a terrible taste, but this stuff really works. It has an instant calming effect. If you’re having trouble falling asleep, take some before bed. I use this for anxiety and it’s the most effective natural solution I’ve found. Will definitely continue to purchase.

It worked the first night
I read the reviews on the taste & they are spot-on. I really did not care about the taste. I am weaning off my sleeping pill and just wanted to sleep. The first night of using it, I slept for 4 hours. Though I used Benadryl as well but letâs say it worked. The sleep wasnât the restful type I was hoping for but I did not have vivid dreams like with melatonin where I dreamt of fighting lions & defeating them with my bare hands, lol!The second night, regardless of taking more, it did not work.I could also not find a certification to give me some confidence from an independent body on these unregulated supplements we buy online. FDA does not regulate them so I kept wondering if the very pills Iâm running from are thrown into these overpriced supplements since the pills ingredients cost less than 1/50th of the cost of these products. Putting âCertified organicâ without stating which body certified you is not helpful. Are you ISO, GMP certified? Trusting these little known companies is a huge deal for me as DSHEA does not provide for an FDA oversight. Iâm only hoping I did not take cannabis or mushrooms as I just want a natural product to sleep. They did not calibrate the dropper. Iâm going to keep using it even if itâs placebo as I want to get off rx sleep meds & donât know what else to use. The dietary supplement sector is getting off easy, the consumers are not sure of what is really in some products. I hope it works for all who are taking it for sleep!

I liked that it already made up in liquid form,but they have added a sweetener.i usually buy in powder but I brought to try.i took 2 full droppers full cause I didn’t know the strength.other people that haven’t used Valerian at all before should only use a few drops under the tongue.
