Like a lot of great American success stories, Happy Jack is a company born of necessity. It was the early 1940s in Snow Hill, NC. James G Exum had a kennel full of beloved beagles with mange. Being a tinkerer, amateur chemist, and the owner of a very large Pharmacology book, James mixed up a batch of mange medicine that worked better than anything else on the market. As different ailments struck his dogs, James created treatments to cure them.

Works great, use with the mange medication
I was a little skeptical and yet hopeful about trying this product.My 3yr old Lab Pit has had a slew of skin issues. But his main issue was sarcoptic mange.After 1 bath, I noticed a difference in his skin. The inflammation seemed to die down, the scaling stopped and his coat started to thicken back up again. I used this shampoo in conjunction with the Veterinary Formula clinical care: antiseptic & antifungal shampoo, oster coconut conditioner and then the happy jack mange medication. Amazing!My suggestion is a bath every 2 weeks with this shampoo to rid the condition youre experiencing. Depending if you have time, use the mange medication as well. But be forewarned its messy stuff. My experience is its a 2 day wearing thing. Meaning itll take 2 days before the residuals stop rubbing off from it. Anytime he’d lay down on fabric it would leave a residue, when his stretched it would flake up almost leaving little crumbs. But thats nothing to worry about. Long as its doing the job, ill sacrifice and deal with all the other crap.I also make a homemade oil to keep his skin moisturized.The shampoo also has a very pleasant scent.

Helped one dog but not the other
It smells good like bubble gum, and it has a really nice lather. I have two dogs one is a chiweenie and the other is a rat terrier. I gave my chiweenie a bath and afterwards his hair was very soft and fluffy and for the most part he stopped itching, he did have an occasional itch but he is 95% better. As for my rat terrier it didn’t seem to help him at all so I’m assuming he may have a different kind of allergy of some sort going on. So with that I still gave it 5 stars as it did help one of my boys, also it was only the first bath using the product, so we will see what happens on the next bath. Overall yes I would recommend this product. Update both of boys are not itching at all anymore, I can’t believe it they were so miserable and so was I, and now no itching at all, lol we are all so happy, thankful and grateful, this product really works.

Not sure slowing down itching
Purchased as not too expensive and many great reviews as to where product helped slow down or stop their dogs itching/scratching prob. The cap came cracked so when squeeze bottle a bunch of the shampoo comes out and used several times but not really much benefit to my momâs dog. With the cracked lid, too much shampoo comes out, so hv discontinued using.

Best shampoo I’ve ever used
My dog has a fish allergy, so he’s deficient in Omega 3’s, so he has dandruff. This shampoo stopped it completely with one bath. No scent, which is a bonus for both of us. Removed one star because the cap broke. His coat is soft and clean.

This product works. It has the consistency of a conditioner but foams when you add water. It has a light fragrance of berries/cotton candy. When I purchased it, the bottle said anti-fungal and anti-bacterial; is it still anti-fungal and anti-bacterial? Overall I’ll purchase again.

Better than anything else I’ve ever used
My lab/pit mix dog has severe skin issues that flare up frequently, usually requiring a vet visit for medication but sometimes I’m able to treat it at home with medicated shampoo. I’ve tried three or four different shampoos to varying degrees of success and decided to try this once when I saw it in the recommended feed.This is the only shampoo that IMMEDIATELY stops him from itching/licking and keeps his skin from feeling gross and stinky for an extended period of time. It’s also nice that you can rinse it off right after you’re finished bathing the dog rather than having to let it soak for 10 minutes.The first time I purchased I did have a small issue with the cap being cracked during shipping and caused some shampoo to leak into the box, which seems to be a common issue with this item for some reason.

Great product
easy to lather on the skin and had a great performance overall. Not sure how my doggy got some issues on her tummy and leg and pretty sure she had a ringworm on one leg and after one shampoo, we noticed things were about healed up by the next day weâre going to do Twice a week shampoos as suggested and just wanted to share what a great product. This was because we love our doggie and wanted quick relief for her.

Love this product,but..
Worked after one use for my border collie mix with horrible grass allergies. Wouldnât use any other product! Ordered prior with no issues but this time the lid was cracked and it leaked inside the box. Product is awesome though!
