Well Written and Readable Advice for the Gut
I’ve had so many conversations with women friends of mine complaining about their stomachs and how they feel after they eat—bloated, stuffy. Or their need to be “close by a bathroom just in case.” Or the opposite may be true, they have this constipated feeling they can’t seem to get rid of.That’s why I picked up this book. The author doesn’t claim to be a doctor or medical expert. She’s lived through what she wants to share. Maybe, I thought, she’ll avoid too much technical jargon and get right down to it. Share what works and what doesn’t.That’s why I like this book. She starts out by describing what goes on inside our bodies. Now some of this is detailed, but if you’re the kind of person who needs to understand what’s happening after you eat a particular food product, then you need to read this section. She explains why women have more discomfort than men. Very interesting. She talks about your microbiome. It exists. It’s real and the food that gets dumped into it affects your mood, the symptoms you have, your energy level, etc.She gives relevant strategies and advice that make sense. Start a detailed food diary because she points out one size does not fit all. You need to track how specific foods affect you. Generally, a Mediterranean diet is good. Generally, it’s good to avoid too much sugar and high fat. But what’s also true is that each person metabolizes foods differently. Some people can drink more coffee than others. Some people are not affected by gluten. She also suggests getting enough sleep and eating regular meals. The author also deals with more serious issues—irritable bowel syndrome or structural disorders where your GI tract is abnormal. Celiac disease is when someone has an adverse reaction to gluten. She recommends seeking medical help. The big take-away with this book is that a healthy gut is not only dependent upon what you eat, but it’s also wrapped up in your lifestyle. The author makes a deliberate attempt to expose the reader to different foods, different activities and encourages the reader to make different choices. Don’t be afraid to investigate yoga or dance. Be active. Try some different foods. She makes a good case—your gut will thank you. You will have more energy and motivation to live a fuller life. You will feel better.I recommend this book. 5 stars.

It leaves me with an important message about the mind-body relationship to generate well-being.
A highly recommended book because although I am not old yet, I am learning from now on the importance of having a nutritional and exercise guide and life plans to follow. We young people always have a very unbalanced schedule to carry out our most basic activities. But in older age this is accentuated, creating real problems and imbalances in the body that begin to deteriorate the mind. This beautiful tool shown by the author teaches us to take care of our schedules and to know what type of illness according to our age we are suffering from, the food to use to cope with it and the practical exercises to develop a healthy mind and therefore a healthy body. The main causes of intestinal obstruction, changes in the body’s microbiota, bowel habits, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, etc. caused by illness or stress, must be detected in time so that they do not become fatal diseases such as cancer. A simple poorly cared for polyp can become an abscess and if we continue to eat poorly, cause fistulas or tumors that could seriously injure us. If we add to this that we do not hydrate ourselves, we do not sleep well or we do not exercise, maintaining a relationship with healthy people and functioning in friendly environments, the disorder is evident and very harmful when one grows up, this combined with menopausal, ovarian, or prenatal infections can disorganize the way we dispose of the body, affecting vital organs. This book shows the style and life plan to follow, it is a basic consultation that should not be missing in a home. For now, I already have a useful guide on how to feed my body and organize it in such a way as to meal times, hydration, and sleep. fasting and foods rich in fiber, fruits, minerals, omegas B complexes, etc. necessary so that, combined with exercise, walking, running, swimming, etc., yoga, pilates, mediations and deep breathing, they perfect my metabolism to the maximum. Thank you for such generous guidance.

    Amazing gut health guide!
I’ve battled with digestive issues for years, trying everything from fad diets to expensive supplements, but nothing really stuck. I love how this book breaks down complex concepts into real-life, actionable steps that are easy to follow. What I enjoyed the most was how it’s specifically tailored for women. The author writes in a tone that makes it feel like a personal health coach guiding you to better gut health and overall vitality. You wouldn’t think that relieving stress was so directly connected with gut health, but let me tell you, after having followed the guidelines that “Gut Health Secrets for Women” provides, I’m absolutely seeing a difference in my stress levels and home and at work!

    A holistic and personalized approach
In “Gut Health Secrets for Women,” Naomi Olson offers a wealth of information about analyzing, improving, and preserving digestive health. Her approach goes beyond the gut and diet to include excellent advice about self care, sleep, and exercise. She continuously points out that every gut differs, and that experimentation is the key to finding what works best for each individual. Her ongoing discussions about which symptoms are normal (if uncomfortable) and which need to be checked out by a doctor are especially valuable. The author’s tone is adult, familiar and open, and to her credit, the writing is not cloyingly motivational. In her carefully explained medical descriptions multi-syllabic terms slip in, but a curious reader can certainly look them up.However, there were two points that went against my grain. The first is an observation that I almost always make reading this type of book. The author simply assumes that every reader wants to lose weight. We feather-weights most certainly do not. This leads into my next quibble. There are many of us who shouldn’t try fasting for multiple reasons. I think pushing this latest fad is dangerous advice without stressing emphatically the need for a doctor’s consent beforehand.
