Improving Health As We Age
Lara West’s book “Gut Health Made Easy for Women over 40: Recipes to Revitalize Your Body and Mind, Manage Menopause Symptoms, Balance Hormones, and Lose Weight with Delicious Smoothies, Salads, and Soups” has been a game changer in giving me new ideas for breakfast as I don’t typically eat a meal at breakfast, as well as good soup and salad ideas. I love that it explains how a healthy gut should run and feel and helped me realize even more that I need to make a change. I absolutely love all the recipes, I tend to get overwhelmed trying to think of what to make or eat and this helps me figure it out and begin a small meal plan. This is definitely a great book for women to learn how to make changes as we approach “the change/”

Improving your health woman
What a great book that gives lots of health advice for women who are already in their 40s and are in the menopause stage to help them feel relief from symptoms and take care of their gut health. What I liked is that the author gives her advice based on her experience and among those tips are including probiotics in your diet, sleeping well, exercising, fasting (either at breakfast or dinner), practicing the habit of mindful eating, finding out about food labels, etc.In addition to what was mentioned above, the book includes a complete list of foods that contain proteins, prebiotics and probiotics, minerals, vitamins, super foods among many others that are very beneficial for women’s health after 40. The author also includes delicious smoothie recipes 𥤠that look delicious and nutritious. I loved the book. I still have to get to that age, but I talked to my mom about this topic and she wants to try some of those recipes as well as include many of those foods in our diet to improve the health of our gut, so this book is very useful and I recommend it.

A Health Treasury!
“Gut Health Made Easy for Women over 40 Cookbook” by Lara West is a treasury of nutrition. Therefore, it is also a health treasury because, as even some doctors donât see to understand, our good health or bad health has everything to do with what we put in our mouths. Of course, that statement isnât the whole story, but it is a BIG part of it.In “Gut Health Made Easy for Women over 40 Cookbook,” West introduces important food categories and explains how they impact our health. For example, she discusses fiber-rich foods, prebiotics, probiotics and fermented foods, foods rich in Omega-3, anti-inflammatory foods, antioxidants, essential vitamins and minerals, proteins, hormone balancers, mushrooms, and herbs. And she tops it off with the âgut offenders,â the foods you want to avoid. For each category, she lists foods in the category.Next come the recipes. The author provides a veritable wealth of recipes, all using healthy, whole foods. And she groups them according to their health benefits. The first group of recipes is smoothies. Some of the groupings you will find are Green Powerhouses (6 recipes), Prebiotic Paradise (6 recipes), Hormonal Harmony (5 recipes), Gut Soothing Elixirs (6 recipes), Protein-Packed Smoothies (5 recipes), Probiotic Powerhouses (7 recipes), and Mushroom Magic (4 recipes.) So, you can see, it will be easy to find a category that matches your need, then youâll have a variety of choices in that category. The second group of recipes is salads. Again, you will find various categories, each with 7-8 recipes. In the salad group, I was excited to see that salad dressings were included. I recently began looking for salad dressings in stores that used healthy oils for their base, instead of the less healthy choices. At first, my search was futile. A few months later, I was finally able to find salad dressings that used avocado oil as the base – very exciting. But with this book, you wonât have a problem with salad dressings – all of these dressing recipes use healthy oils as the bases – mainly extra virgin olive oil.The last group of recipes is soups. For soups, the author offers 16 hot soups and 8 cold soups. I was interested in this quote from her book: âBy simmering ingredients in liquid for extended periods, soups break down tough fibers and release valuable nutrients. This process allows our digestive system to process the ingredients more efficiently.â (page 92) So, give your gut a break – feed it soup! This book is truly a treasure. Perhaps it is because the author speaks from her own experience. She understands what we need and has provided us with a whole library of healthy recipes. If youâre looking for a way to improve your health and vitality, I believe youâll find the answer in “Gut Health Made Easy for Women over 40 Cookbook.”

This book includes a wide range of useful information that I’ve not read in the many other books on health and menopause that I’ve read. The chapters breaking down the needs of the gut, followed by the beneficial foods are straightforward, well described and set out in an easy-to-digest format (apologies for the pun!). I especially appreciated the section in the menopause. I will be referring back to the information and the tasty recipes again and again. Highly recommended
