Tasty, beautiful, impressive spectacle, and very giftable!
I like to make five-treasures tea in my clear teapot (or if I’m at work in a french press) because it’s just so beautiful to see it all come to life in the hot water. But not all people are loose-leaf people, and a lot of my friends don’t want to go to the trouble to brew tea this way, so I’ve really liked having this sachet option to share with them after I’ve introduced them to the spectacle of a beautiful tea. (It really is experiential – so much more than just taste.)These sachets are fabric instead of paper, which I appreciate, and I love that I can see all the way into and through them so the beauty of the Five Treasures isn’t lost on anyone. I keep these in my office for colleagues who are on the go, and love sharing them with people who are exploring beyond their first cup of regular black tea. These have all of the vibrant colors I could ask for, and it tastes very earthy – not as fruity as you might expect, but in a good way (at least to me.)

Not very fruity
This tea is not at all what I expected. I drink a lot of herbal teas and with the goji berries, dates, and mulberry, I expected a slightly fruity taste. I hoped the maca root flavor wouldnât come through at all⦠and I didnât notice it. But to my surprise, once brewed this tea smelled and tasted like mushrooms⦠specifically, wild morel mushrooms. And I didnât get a red color at all, just a standard brown leaning toward grayish. I love mushrooms, personally, but I wasnât expecting a mushroom tasting tea.The tea bags themselves have a string with no staple and a tiny paper tag, I think the bags are nylon? The ingredients look fantastic. Dry, they smell earthy, with a hint of that goji berry smell. Brewing instructions are a little confusing. On the bag itself it says 90°C, so roughly how I would brew an oolong. But on the product page it says, brew âabove 70°Câ, as well as âavoid high temperature to produce harmful substancesâ⦠as well as âpour 200mL boiled water over 1 teabagâ.In the end, I used my kettle to heat the water to 195°F/â90°C and let it steep for 3-5 minutes. I may try a lower temperature, but because I donât know what the âharmful substancesâ are, I wonât boil the water. The bags seem to be able to brew a fairly large volume of tea (or a very strong brew?), and I read somewhere that they can even be reused⦠which Iâm unlikely to do if I canât get the temp right to reduce that wet soil mushroom flavor. A little honey helps⦠but honey mushrooms isnât my idea of a snack. I compared 3 bags for composition since the ingredients are whole enough to identify⦠at least the mulberries, wolfberries, and date slices, and they are not identical. So the bags are filled from a larger premix and you get what you get, ha. Iâll try it again a few other ways to see if I get a different flavor. If not, I guess I just have to be in the mood for mushroom tea.

Looks like potpourri but is actually pretty good.
I brought this the other night and my friend couldn’t believe it because she had just decided that she was going to gather these exact ingredients to make this very tea! She said she had read that this mix was very good for female health. Especially having to do with a particular time each month.I am not female, so all I can talk about is what it tastes like. It is not bad. There is an earthy, almost savory tone. Definitely some umami, we think from the yam. It may remind you of roasted organic peanuts, or a hint of the taste of a very good mushroom soup. But then there is the other more traditional flavor of green tea. It is pleasant. And for something that seems really good for you, it is not at all unpleasant. The packaging was nice, and the tea bags are good quality.

VERY sweet, a little earthy/smokey, nice simple ingredients, but plastic pyramids?
I love tea and drink quite a bit daily so I try to change it up and also make sure that not all of it is caffeinated. I was intrigued by this tea as I like several of the ingredients so I thought Iâd try it. First off this tea is VERY sweet all on its own, I can only imagine that comes from the dates and possibly the mulberries, it is nice to not have to sweeten the tea. The tea looks just like does in the photos, you can see all the large freeze dried chunks of everything in there. This tea does have an earthy/smokey flavor it to it, I am guessing that comes from the maca and other non-fruit constituents. I have brewed this both as hot tea and as iced tea and like it both ways. Generally if a tea company is not using nylon to make their pyramids it is a selling point so they mention it. Without this company clearly saying that the pyramids are not made of nylon (plastic) I have to assume they are indeed nylon and not wanting to expose myself to more micro plastics and plastic related chemicals I have chosen to remove the tea form itâs sachets before brewing and use a stainless brewing basket. Also, given the level of sweetness one has to assume sugars from the fruits leech into the tea when brewed, so I wish that the company had nutritional information for this. I understand that they are calling it dietary supplement and as such do not have to report nutritional information, but for those of us who watch their sugars/carbs knowing just how much you get when brewed would be very nice. So while there is no sugar added this is NOT sugar free. This tea is a bit spendy at seventy six cents per teabag too and honestly I am not sure I liked it enough to pay that much? Anyway, so I am going to say four stars for like on this one.

It taste and look amazing
This tea taste and look is amazing. The mix of dried fruits and herbs has incredible smell. Also the flavor is so rich, yes it has an earthy taste but nothing that hint of honey wouldnât mask. But the best part is the presentation. The tea bags are filled with real dried fruits and herbs, so you can see all the good stuff in there. And when you steep the tea, all the flavors and colors come out, I have served it to my friends and family members and they all love it, and love the apereance. I with the flavor were a little more fruity but the ginseng and the maca are way too strong for the fruit combination. I can wait to try different flavors.
