    PMDD help with supplements
I want to write this to help people diagnosed with PMDD that can’t or don’t want to get on birth control and don’t want to get on antidepressants. I am not doing this as a doctor but someone that has experienced it and found a solution that works for me. It may not work for everyone else. That being said I’ll keep it short as possible. I had severe postpartum depression after I quit breastfeeding my daughter. Very severe. I let it go too long because I didn’t know what was going on. The doctor prescribed me lexapro and it worked a little at first but it took it a full 8 weeks to work better and even then it didn’t get rid of all of the symptoms. It was a low dose but I didn’t want a big dose because I knew I would be getting off of it soon and just wanted the help for a little while. I wish I would have started my supplements then instead of the lexapro because I now know hormone imbalance was my problem. My prescription ended at 5 months after starting it and that put my daughter at 1 year. I weaned off of it and it wasn’t too bad but I started getting really weird symptoms. After I would ovulate I would go into a rage for 2 weeks with severe mood swings. I told my doctor about it and they wanted to put me on birth control which I can’t take due to the type of migraines I get. So they wanted to put me on Prozac. I took one dose of Prozac and it made me feel super weird so I was determined to find out what the root of my problem was instead of taking Prozac. I also was having pain on the right side under my ribs and my throat kept having a swollen feeling. After tons of research I found it is very common to be hypo/hyper thyroid after a baby and that estrogen dominance is very common. The pain in my side was due to excess estrogen messing up my gall bladder function and the swollen feeling in my throats was due to the hypothyroid. I also had the other symptoms that goes along with these two issues i.e. Mood swings, anxiety attacks, hot and cold flashes, sleepiness, irritability and so on. I did research and started taking these two supplements.https://www.amazon.com/Thyroid-Support-Supplement-Vegetarian-Ashwagandha/dp/B00M13NHFY/ref=sr_1_2?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1495635876&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=thyroid+support&psc=1https://www.amazon.com/DIM-BioPerine-Metabolism-Menopause-Aromatase/dp/B006KL4TYG/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1495635915&sr=1-4&keywords=DimThyroid support and DIM. I also took some other additional supplements to help with the estrogen metabolizing because I was miserable and desperate.https://www.amazon.com/Thorne-Research-Picolinate-Absorbable-Supplement/dp/B002TPK1F8/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1495636038&sr=1-4&keywords=zinc+picolinatehttps://www.amazon.com/Thorne-Research-D-Glucarate-Detoxification-Capsules/dp/B0012MZZLE/ref=sr_1_sc_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1495637884&sr=8-3-spell&keywords=calcium+d+glucarteI can go into detail on what these do but I’m trying to keep this brief. Anyway they started working within a week. I started feeling better. I took 2 DIM a day for 2 months in addition to the normal doses of the other supplements. I gradually kept feeling better but I’m an impatient person and I had been feeling bad for so long I wanted it to feel totally normal again as soon as possible. After more research I found that Curcumin helps you feel better while the DIM and Thyroid support does it’s job. It took me a long time to get to feeling this way so it would take a while for me to get out of it. I ordered one brand of curcumin that’s no longer available but I’ve replaced it with this onehttps://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Bioperine-Available-Standardized-Curcuminoids/dp/B01DBTFO98/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1495636427&sr=1-4&keywords=curcuminI started feeling like myself at Day 5 of taking this. It’s amazing. I sometimes take up to 9 a day but it’s on days I feel particularly terrible which always coincides with my hormone cycle (or slight hangover) but I always take at least 3 a day. No side effects or any issues with this. It’s amazing. It keeps me sane while the dim and the thyroid support correct the issues I’ve had. I just wanted to write this to give people an option to try before antidepressants. You should know within a week of these supplements will help you or not. I’m not doctor. I’m not trying to get anyone to stop taking their meds. I am simply putting out there an option that worked for me and took a lot of trial and error to figure out.So my daily supplement regimen that initially worked for me. I have since lowered my doses after 2 months of this.2 DIM by smokey mountain naturals one morning one night. I would recommend only taking 2 if your estrogen dominance is severe and only for 1 month. After that lower to 1 a day.Thyroid Support by 1 body 2 in morning1 Calcium D Glucarate by Thorne research3 turmeric curcumin with bioperine by Schwartz bioresearch sometimes more1 double strength zinc picolinate by Thorne research in morningFish oil in morningRelaxed mood gummies by vitafusionNeuromag magnesium l-threonate by life extension at night. 1 scoop.I now only take1 DIM2 Thyroid Support2 Relaxed mood gummies3 Curcumin and occasionally more throughout the day.Magnesium at night. It’s a lot of supplements and some are a little expensive but I prefer this to Prozac. Please PM me if you have any questions. I’ve tried a lot of things in addition to these that I didn’t list because I wanted to keep this as short as possible. Again this is just what worked for me and I am not a doctor. I was just desperate for anything to help me that wasn’t an antidepressant.

I want to share my experience but also be transparent in that I used a few things to resolve my breast cysts and cyclical breast pain within ONE cycle !! DIM I feel was the leading factor along with IODINE—I have a holistic background and try to manage and heal things naturally .Since I discontinued breastfeeding my daughter 5 years ago, I’ve been having horribly painful , HEAVY breasts during my luteal phase (from ovulation until period, so, the 2 weeks before period ) that blow up like 2 sizes every single month. It become a norm for me and I figured it was hormonal and normal. ITS NOT NORMAL . It’s actually a sign of imbalance hormones likely caused by estrogen dominance.I started getting a bit concerned when I’d feel a sharp pain on the left breast randomly during those times , but not the right . I have health anxiety so I would worry I had breast can**r or something brewing.Well recently, I had a particularly difficult few months; special needs mama running a full time business and my child was going through a severe mental psychosis , I was getting little to no sleep, in and out of the hospital, and eating trash whilst gulping coffee and next to no water.I’m a herbalist so I know the importance of medicinal foods , herbs , supplements, water and sleep but when life got impossible it went out the window (lesson well learned btw- NEVER THROW YOUR HEALTH ON THE BACK BURNER !! ) – I digress . Following this difficult time, my luteal phase rolls along and BOOM – sharp pain in the left knocker , sore heavy breasts ect, but this time the left pain didn’t stop it was baaaad, and my god, I found a lump . It was visible to the skin and RED.Even though I KNOW lumps are common and likely not cancer, and the development of this one was so sudden, I automatically was convinced I had it. I was SCARED . Lump was like a jumbo gumball size . I felt like it wasn’t movable and rock hard and from everything I’d read that meant it wasn’t a cyst which was terrifying .After a big panic and puddle of tears I got to work. Firstly i booked an ultrasound because they can determine if it’s a cyst or needs further testing . Important info: DONT do an ultrasound during the luteal phase !!! It was horrible that I had to wait 2 weeks to find out , BUT it’s best to go the week after your period when your hormones are leveled again because breasts can get lumpy and weird in your luteal phase .I immediately went on a healing protocol – whether it was a cyst or cancer , Its a sign of imbalance and I wanted it gone. Here’s what I did :I prioritized sleep . 7 hours MINIMUM and at the correct time . Before 11 to access the healing hours . I intermittent fastet 16 hours daily .(Please do your own research and or consult a naturopath as I am not permitted to provide medical advice , this is just my experience based on my background, research and comfort levels)DIMLUGOlS IODINE 6 drops of 2% (From what I’ve understood a telltale sign of iodine deficiency is sore breasts /cysts and general breast issues; it’s a must for general breast health and prevention )EVENING PRIMROSE OIL – 3000mgVIT E – 1200iuI think these 4 were the most important and impactfulAdditionally I took SERRAPEPTASE which breaks down scar tissues , mucus , cysts etcAnd I took herbs / supplements to support my liver because if your liver isn’t functioning optimally your hormones will not be in Balance . This included: milk thistle, artichoke extract, tumeric/curcuminI also made sure to take my regular supplements such as vit d + k2 , b vitamins , magnesium , fish oilI drank warm herbal teas of all sorts all day in place of plain water like mushrooms , morninga , green tea , mullein etc .Ok so topically – each night …i painted the breast with iodine, rubbed magnesium lotion on it and I wore a castor oil pack on the breast (look it up)- castor oil penetrates deeper than any other oils into the tissues – healing & promoting lymph flow .I also tried to take warm baths with magnesium flakes nightly.I also practiced mindfulness and used sound therapy via playing my F NOTE singing bowl everyday- F note is associated with the heart and surrounding organs as well as the breasts . Sound frequencies align with our bodies frequencies and can heal imbalancesWithin 10 days the lump was nearly gone !! Ultrasound confirmed it was 2 cysts .The best part ?? Those sore breasts I was getting every single month for the past five years? The next luteal phase I didn’t have an ounce of breast tenderness! I actually cried my eyes out to my husband. I couldn’t believe that it was gone! It’s crazy what deficiencies can cause, and our body really speaks to us if you pay attention… we have a lot of power in our health ! Namaste, everyone .I hope this was helpful.

Getting closer to my 50’s, my moods having been getting a little more exciting so to speak for my family to deal with when I get closer to my cycle.I’m not quit in perimenopause, but the PMS is a lot!I’m usually bloated with the water retention you hold 1 wk before, I have been suffering from migraines on and off up to one week before my cycle arrives and my energy is low just before. While studying Herblism as a practitioner, I learned my liverwasn’t metabolizing the estrogen in my body ( sluggish liver), leading to excess estrogen and all the horrible symptoms to go with. I cannot take most liver supplements from the daisy family because of allergies to help optimize my liver strength. Then I discovered DIM through researching PMS products and wow what a 360 degree flip for me. I feel so much better and functional. no bloat, mood swings or migraines. All gone. My husband even noticed. Bonus for him. ;)I highly recommend to anyone out there, very effective!

I’ve been struggling with severe hormonal imbalances for years (23F) and the most distressing symptom has been cystic acne all around my mouth and chin, sometimes nose and forehead but usually in the hormonal area, aka the bottom half of my face. I have tried so many supplements (vitamin a, zinc, magnesium, turmeric, b5, ovasitol [which, to be fair, was a solid product]) , countless skincare products (thousands spent), and nothing ever stopped the recurring angry red massive acne that kept popping up in the same spots. This stuff really worked, like really, really worked. In less than a week I found that my face resembled that of a human being again. The acne COMPLETELY stopped, im only battling 1 active bump now which I suspect was underneath the skin already. Mind you I’ve also been using tretinoin for 3 months, but I know that the sudden disappearance of acne was due to the DIM supplement. It’s honestly life changing to have my face back. And only for a fraction of the price of everything else I have tried. Now the downside. I’ve used this product before, and I remember now why I stopped the first time around. Headaches. I just pop a pain reliever and it goes away, but some people experience serious migraines from this stuff. I don’t know the science of it, but to me, its worth it, as this is the only thing that has cleared my skin for real, and I can handle a random headache. Next, pee is dark and smells weird no matter how much water I drink. And yes, I drink a lot of water. It’s not the worst thing, but it can get annoying, and if I think about it too long I start to wonder if its something I should worry about. Nevertheless, nobody has reported any serious side effects so I’m rolling with it. But hey, thats a thing to look out for.TL;DR — This supplement worked like magic for me but it did have its downsides. However it is effective, affordable, and shows results FAST, so I’ll be an avid DIM enthusiast and highly recommend you try it for yourself.
