What does CōTZ Stand for? Contains Only Titanium & Zinc
CōTZ contains no chemical sunscreens, which can be irritating, penetrate your skin, and absorb UV energy. Mineral sunscreens are inherently gentle, and work by reflecting away harmful rays. So you never have to worry about harmful rays heating up and absorbing into your skin.
Cotz The All-Mineral Difference
CoTZ’s all-mineral sunscreens use zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to reflect harmful UV rays, offering non-irritating, lightweight protection without chemicals. Unlike chemical sunscreens, they sit gently on the skin, making them perfect for sensitive skin and are reef-friendly too.

Our name means something great!
CoTZ stands for Contains Only Titanium and Zinc. Our story is one of understanding, commitment, and helping people create better habits.
Why should I use a mineral sunscreen?
Mineral sunscreens reflect UV light, while chemical sunscreens absorb it and convert it to heat. Mineral sunscreens stay on the skin’s surface and are less likely to cause allergies, whereas chemical ones can penetrate the skin and trigger reactions.
What makes your mineral sunscreens difference than other mineral sunscreens?
CōTZ mineral sunscreens are known for their light, silky feel and nearly invisible look on the skin. Using only top-quality ingredients, they provide excellent protection in formulas that are a pleasure to wear.
Are your products reef-safe?
All CōTZ products meet Reef Friendly guidelines, meaning they are 100% free of the chemical sunscreen actives Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, as well as all other chemical sunscreen actives.
Are your sunscreens non-nano?
CōTZ sunscreens use a blend of particle sizes to create a barrier that reflects and refracts UV rays. Some particles start nano-sized but are coated with inert ingredients, making the Titanium and Zinc Oxide non-nano in the final product.
What gives the CoTZ tinted sunscreens their color? Do you use dyes?
CōTZ products do not contain dyes or fragrances. The tint in our tinted products comes from Iron Oxide, a natural mineral ingredient.

Favorite Zinc Sunscreen
I am torn on five stars. For me, I would give it 5 all the way down, but it was a long road to get there. I have sensitive skin, sensitive eyes, and am on full skin cancer watch ever since I had four incidents in a row. All meaning my sensy little face can only handle a long list of requests: fragrance free, zinc only, moisturizing, and able to reapply without pilling. ENTER COTZ! After trying so many zinc sunscreens, from Aveeno to Supergoop to EltaMD to Coola to No Ad to Sun Bum, etc… this is the ONLY (face) sunscreen that doesnt burn my eyes or pill or dry my skin out.. It works for me beautifully and the tint is almost invisible but leaves my skin looking dewy AF.This all comes with a couple caveats. Sticky!!! My first week was a big struggle; touching my face would leave my fingers tacky but that meant I couldn’t touch my face (win win!). Leading me to…. absorption. If I put this on too close to leaving the house, I can guarantee I’ll get a little city dirt or even a gnat stuck to my face! Seriously, it’s gotta sit on you for at least 30 minutes. Next was staining, I had to learn to put this on last and ONLY my face or it would stain any top I had on no matter the color. You MUST double cleanse with an oil (I use plain jojoba) and follow up with a water based cleanser (inkey list salicilic acid cleanser) to wash all that stuff off. No matter what sunscreen you use, you should double cleanse anyway. Anyhoo, all that being said, it’s my favorite thing in the world. I’m on bottle #8 and see no end in sight. Even the most expensive zinc sunscreens still left my eyes burning for hours, this goes literally on my eyelids. I can reapply on top of it easy. I have people on the street complimenting my skin glowiness. I can understand not wanting to go through all that rigamarole to protect your face but if you are like me looking for something that works juuuuust right? This might be the one for you. I find a bottle lasts me one month, a fair price to pay for protection, moisture, and a nice tint.Overall I would recommend this under my specific circumstances or if you need that extra moisture and like a dewy look.

Moisturizing base
This is a very moisturizing sunscreen that is good for pale skin in winter. It doesnât look good on its own but Iâll keep using it as a base in winter.Pros: moisturizingNo cast on pale skin.Tinted to counter visible light.Works well under other layers, such as makeup. High spf and presumed UVA protection due to high zinc content. No sting!Price is rightCons: extreme shine that never fully dies down and enhances pores. No cosmetic coverage. For reference I have fair neutral toned skin that is dry in winter, sensitive and prone to melasma. I was hoping to find a high SPF + high UVA protection tinted sunscreen as an all in one. This doesnât work for that, but I use this and then a layer of Elta MD physical tinted sunscreen plus concealer for cosmetic coverage. In summer I may try a layer of Cotz tinted primer over this to cut the shine and for cosmetic coverage. The tinted primer is too dark when applied as a sunscreen (2 full layers to equal at least 1/4 teaspoon) but 1 layer may work for those of us who are pale. This tinted spf moisturizer is very sheer even when applied in the correct amount, so while it doesnât look good alone it can be a good base layer as long as you arenât oily. Finally – thanks to Cotz for providing affordable high protection and at least starting to get a couple shades, but we need more! Give us coverage with lighter shades and darker shades!

5+ years of using this product.
I love this product. I found out about it from a vendor booth at surf expo like 5 years ago and have been buying and using it ever since. It’s the perfect mix of sunscreen and light coat of tinted foundation that is light and looks flawless when you put it on. If you love the minimal look that covers up imperfections and creates a nice finish to your skin tone then this is a great product to try and use daily.

best facial sunscreen ever
I love this stuff! I used to buy it at Ulta, but they stopped carrying it. It goes on nicely and does not leave a white cast. I always get the tinted one so I can’t speak for the non tinted one. It does give a dewy (shiny) finish just so you know. This same brand has a matte finish too which is kinda like a primer. Both area great! I love that it’s a mineral sunscreen and 50 SPF. I believe it’s cruelty free too!!

Very emollient, but oxidates
I was quite disappointed with it. Great base for my dry skin but the most fair color oxidates to orange shortly after application.

Light Tint, Dewy Finish, No Breakouts; So Flattering for Dull Skin
This is my favorite mineral sunscreen. I have rosacea and sensitive skin and this is hands-down the best base layer. I do mix in either RMS foundation or Ilia Serum Tint to add more coverage as this is quite sheer, but the dewy finish is so flattering on aging or dull skin. Never breaks me out either and I’m very sensitive. I do double cleanse with an oil cleanser like DHC first then Cetaphil for the second stage as these mineral sunscreens can be very tenacious.
