Very Nice (with an update at the end)
After reading some of the bad reviews, was unsure about this purchase. However, in researching this meter, it did score high so I decided to give it a try. Before this purchase, I was using an old CVS model. It was right-on when comparing meter results against lab results. But because it was an older model, thought I should upgrade. I did get everything I was supposed to in the package. Some people mentioned they didnât get this or that. Not sure why. Right away, I was able to figure out the meter almost without referring to the instructions. User friendly. I like the size of the meterânot too small. And the # results are very clear to see. I like the microlet lancets in that they deliver a minimal prick, and the lancet device is easy to use. I checked the blood droplet on the new meter against the old and the results were only a few points off. I did this for three days and got similar results for both meters. I did notice one day that if you didnât push the stick into the meter all the way, of course, it wouldnât read. The sticks arenât firm so you have to be gentle but constant to make sure the stick reaches the end. It would be nice if they had a bit more meat on them. But they work. Thus 4 stars. I do like that it syncs to your phone. Iâm not a technical wizard but I do like all the current technology. The syncing program isnât particularly fancy but it keeps a record, and will give you an average. When it comes time for my next A1c, it will be interesting to see if the lab average matches the Contour average. The little black bag is useless to me. They are never big enough.UPDATE. Have had the glucose meter now for almost a month. I do like it. Not a problem with the sticksâlike I saidâgentle but constant. When I first got it, I played around with the app to understand all that it has to offer. It takes a few days to a week to clearly figure it out. Very nice. It records when you stick, the results and the average. Nice colorful images. A1c time will tell⦠Definitely would recommend. Changed from 4 stars to 5.

False Advertising
There are NO test strips in this kit, making it unusable until you make another purchase. I needed it for a trip and believed I would have a complete kit, not so. I have since written to request strips, but NO response.I now see that this is a common complaint. Be warned.

Meter is a good value.
My old meter quit when I replaced the batteries. I needed to replace it. This model works well. I like the Bluetooth connection to my phone. I can see my glucose readings for the last 120 days with the app.

Great tester
GREATEST, feature is, if you don’t put enough blood on the strip you get a 2nd chance to put more. The machine tells you that was not enough. On any other machine that test strip failure will cost you money. Very simple to use as well as accurate. As soon as the test strip goes in it turns on and shuts off after the strip is removed. I had a more expensive system and the part that pricks you, was very hard to load. It was a fancy barrel system. AND, if you needed to prick yourself again, you just wasted a needle.

Great meter that pairs with a phone app
I’ve been using the One Touch Ultra but the strips are too expensive so I decided to try this brand since strips are affordable. This is a great meter – it’s accurate and I love that it syncs with the Contour app on my Samsung. I received all 55 strips that are included and I’m comfortable knowing strips can be ordered at half the price of the One Touch Ultra. The meter gives you the option to monitor meal times and your readings automatically pair to the app where you can add notes, keep track of carb grams, and see your readings listed and in a color coded graph. You can choose your own results range to display; yellow for high readings, green for normal and red for too low, and you can choose your meal time hours. This comes in handy when looking at your graphs to instantly see your patterns color coded. This is an outstanding value and a great product that is easy to use.

Do NOT buy!
An absolutely disgusting device that does not justify a single penny spent on it. The main problem is the test strips. They constantly refuse to read blood! Even if you strictly follow the instructions, there is a high probability that the analysis will fail, and you will have to use a new strip. As a result, you are simply wasting strips and, what is even worse, your time. The costs of these strips are rapidly increasing, which makes using a glucometer not only inconvenient, but also financially burdensome.The needles are a separate horror. They are of incredibly mediocre quality. Compared to needles from other companies, there is a clear feeling that the manufacturer saved on basic comfort for users.Another critical drawback is the complete unreliability of the results. If you do the test with a difference of three minutes, the results will be completely different. The device simply cannot provide stability and accuracy, which is extremely dangerous, especially for people who need to carefully monitor their sugar levels.In general, this is an extremely low-quality and unreliable glucometer. Buying this device is a waste of money and constant stress. I sincerely recommend avoiding Contour Next GEN and choosing something more proven and high-quality. Do not risk your health with such a device.

Does Not Include Test Strips
As the other reviews state, this does not, in fact, come with any testing strips. It does have everything else, and the monitor seems to work fine, but the 20 free strips were not included. Thankfully I ordered a box of strips at the same time so I can actually use it, but it’s shady to advertise an item being included and not including it.
