great for build up!!
helps with my psoriasis build up a lot!! the shampoo is very lather-able! it doesnât help much with my itching but definitely helps with flaking! the bottle is huge and a great value for sure!! smells absolutely terrible but thatâs expected from the tar they use!!

Yes, it’s stinky but effective
Many people on here have complained about how much it smells, but people, it’s tar shampoo – it’s going to stink. What matters is whether it works or not. It works incredibly well for me. I used to use prescription shampoo for my dandruff, but this works really well. When I first got it, I used it every day for a week (for 30 minutes a day). Now I’m down to maintenance and do it twice a week. So, yes, it smells, but it works well and keeps the dandruff at bay.

Perfect Primary, the expensive one should be the alternative
Iâve used a more expensive alternative to this Amazon Basics Therapeutic Plus Coal Tar Anti-Dandruff Shampoo in the past (I wonât name it here), but I decided to try this option to save some money. Honestly, I donât notice any difference between the two products! This shampoo works just as well at managing dandruff and soothing my scalp. The 0.5% coal tar formula is effective, and it leaves my hair feeling clean without being overly harsh. The bottle size is generous for the price, and itâs an amazing value overall. Highly recommend giving it a tryâyou wonât be disappointed!

Works well, smells like, well, TAR.
This seems to work well for my dandruff, but WHOA, I wish I had known about the smell. I should have guessed that tar gel shampoo would smell like tar, but yeah. Just be ready for it. Still 4 stars though because it works, itâs just not pleasant to use..

Face Dandruff? No more!
I purchased this shampoo not for my scalp, but for my face. I have a slight case of âface dandruffâ, and the cold and super dry winter weather has made the flakiness so much worse. I lathered this onto the most flaky spots on my face (forehead, eyebrows, and nose), let it sit for a minute or so, and rinsed. The first time I used it the flakes were gone! Itâs been a few days and the flakes are STILL gone. Iâm pretty stoked about that!Ok so hereâs the bad part – the smell. It smells like old motor oil. Itâs horrendous. But Iâm willing to overlook that because it works. And even with the smell Iâm still giving it 5 stars just for the effectiveness.

Good, cheaper alternative to T-Gel
Just as good as T-Gel and a fraction of the price.

A great buy
I have purchased other, similar, shampoos, but this has the best PRICE, and I like the larger size. Also, it does its job well, too.

Effective Relief from Flakes
From the first wash, I noticed a significant reduction in itching and flaking. The 0.5% coal tar formulation effectively soothes the scalp and starts to clear up dandruff symptoms without being too harsh. It lathers well and has a surprisingly mild scent for a coal tar product, which I appreciate since strong odors can be a turn-off.I use it twice a week, and it has maintained my scalp health without causing any dryness, which is often a concern with anti-dandruff treatments. The 16 fl oz bottle offers excellent value, lasting quite long even with regular use. However, if you have color-treated hair, you might want to use it cautiously as coal tar can potentially fade hair color. Also, the consistency is a bit runny, so I find myself needing to be careful when dispensing it to avoid wastage.
