Professional here!
This works best when the bottle is freshly opened. I have been using it for years. The only downfall is that it does make highlighted blonde hair turn yellow. Hard to get the yellow out even with toning. It is very strong and when done properly it lasts a long time, it can be drying if you use it too often. I recommend once every six months. I am a professional hairstylist for 22 years now and have been certified in keratin treatments since 2008.I also always wear a mask when using. You do not want to inhale the fumes! It burns your eyes in the same way chopping onions does. I point a fan directing at the fumes to blow them away. Definitely use in a well ventilated area. You can wash the next day! As long as you use a sulfate free shampoo, it will last a long time.

Great for the Price
I hardly ever write reviews, but this product deserves it. I’ll give a full detailed account of my experience:MY HAIR:I am Polynesian-Italian, so I have incredibly thick, medium length, wavy/curly, course hair. My hair takes forever to style, is stubborn, always needs a ton of styling product, can never just get up and go. I had been getting blowouts professionally, but stopped about a year and a half ago because the price is just too high. Since then I’ve been trying ones to do myself, ranging between Cappola to Organix, but everything ’til this has been a disappointment. I was skeptical to buy this because there were so few reviews, but most of them were good, so I held my breath and bought it.PROCESS:I washed my hair with clarifying shampoo THREE TIMES; blow dried my hair on medium heat; sectioned my hair and added the product (I didn’t have a brush so I just used gloves and poured the treatment into a small bowl)-this part was a little tricky at times because my hair would start to dry a little after adding the treatment and I was unsure if I added too little. I went over those spots, but if you do NOT have incredibly thick hair, I wouldn’t recommend that for fear of over saturation; I brushed my hair with a fine tooth comb constantly to even the distribution; let it sit of 30 minutes; blow dried again on medium heat; straightened (in the bathroom with fan, open window, plus an extra fan I brought in blowing directly on my face) about 1 in. x .5 cm of hair at 450ºF and STRAIGHTENED EACH SECTION 7-10 TIMES I wouldn’t recommend 10 times if you don’t have strong hair, but like I said, I’m Polynesian-Italian, my hair can withstand anything. From start to finish, the process took me about 4 hours.RESULTS:I waited 4 days to wash. During the time my hair looked normal, not oily or greasy. It felt smooth and mostly soft, but if you ran your fingers through it, it did have a slight filmy texture. This was completely bearable, I went to work before washing it out and I didn’t look grungy at all. After washing, I let it air dry, which is a scary thought because if I do this, I usually look like Tina Turner. It took awhile for my hait to dry because it’s so thick, but the results were incredible. My usually unmanageable hair dried almost entirely STRAIGHT AND SOFT. The ends had a slight poof to them, but almost NO FRIZZ. I couldn’t believe it. This has cut so much time out of my morning routine. When I style my hair now, I do have to do a few touch ups with the flat iron, but his usually only takes 5-10 minutes at most (before straightening took 1.5 hours!!). I also have enough product to do the treatment again.CONS:The 2 day free shipping was great, however when I received my bottle, it had opened and about a teaspoon of product had spilled in to the shipping package. But to put it into perspective, receiving messy package immediately annoyed me and so I expected the results to be nothing to mediocre at best- which luckily wasn’t the case. So despite this happening, I still rate 5 Stars. There were fumes, my eyes did get a little irritated and watery-but this is expected. The same thing happens when you get it done in a salon. When my eyes became too itchy, I just took a few minutes to step out. No scalp burning/tingling. I have asthma, so I tried not to breath it in as much as possible, and had a fan blowing directly at my face, but overall this did not bother my lungs at all.FYI:It’s been almost a month since I did the treatment and results are still about the same. My hair does have a little bit a wave coming back, but it’s minuscule and actually looks good. I use WEN conditioning cleanser and an inexpensive shampoo from Fred Meyer, both sulfate free. I only use shampoo about once a week, otherwise WEN each shower. Wash my hair about 3 x per week.I know this a super long review, but I’m a skeptic who doesn’t believe in most products. This really does work. I will keep using it. I’m incredibly satisfied with the results. I’ve recommended it to my friends, sister and mom.

Great So Far!
Let’s get one thing out of the way- Keratin/Brazilian treatments do NOT remove all curl/wave from hair. Their purpose is to smooth, defrizz, and relax texture. If you’re looking to do those things and have some time on your hands, this is your stuff!I began by using Ion’s Clarifying Shampoo, washing my hair thoroughly three times with it before gently combing out and drying with a large, round brush and high heat. This is where I saw the most damage occur to my hair (albeit very little); if you have insanely thick, always tangled hair like I do, combing without conditioner or leave-in treatment is hell. Be patient, work in small layers, and you’ll get through it. I did this before bed, splitting the entire process up into two days. The next morning, I divided my hair into front and side segments and applied the product as described; in small sections, enough to saturate, but only slightly building up on front of my fine-tooth comb with ran through each section. As others mentioned, the fumes here are awful; the product’s smell itself isn’t so bad, but the chemical stench sneaks up on you! make sure you’re in a well-ventilated room and take breaks when you need them.I allowed the application to sit for about 30 minutes, where it dried to a damp-tacky stage. I followed this with the medium-heat blow dry step, again using my large, round brush to dry the product completely while also removing some of my natural curl/wave. This is the half way point, so celebrate! The next step’s the real pain.I divided my now-dry hair into three sections again- back and sides- and enlisted my boyfriend to straighten the back portion, using my digital CHI at 365 degrees. You really need to get that straightener up to the roots and thoroughly over the shaft of the hair for at least 8 passes per section, so definitely enlist a friend to help you. I’m pretty good at straightening my hair by this point in my life, but the tiny sections and repeated passes would have been too much for me! Boyfriend did about 12 horizontal layers on the back segment, each divided into 4 smaller groups. I then completed each side on my own. As mentioned, you’ll want to make at least 8 passes, or until the chemical no longer smokes on your hair. The entire flat ironing process probably took two hours.Although the bottle and videos say it can be washed out next day, I left it in for 36 hours and even tied my hair back loosely at one point without issue (working out with my hair down is a HUGE no-go). when I did finally wash, I used a sulphate- and sodium-free shampoo and deep conditioner. Here’s the real magic: When I got out of the shower, I noticed my waves were far more relaxed than normal. When I began blow dry my hair, I was able to use a paddle brush and only two sections of hair to get a perfectly-acceptable, frizz-free, non-poofy, straight ‘do…in about 10 minutes! I finished it with a round brush to add some lift. By contrast, a typical blow-out before took 4 layerings of hair, and 45 minutes of blow-drying using a round, ceramic brush- leaving me with “straight” but puffy, frizzed out hair that needed to be finished with a flat-iron before I could leave the house. My hair is now insanely soft and shiny, as well. Bonus!TL;DR- it’s a pain to apply, takes forever, and smells bad, but you WILL have great results if you follow the instructions and invest the time.**UPDATE 8.19.17** It’s been six months since I applied this product, and it’s now completely out of my hair. That said, it stayed in completely for about four months before it started to fade. My stylist was impressed; every time I went for a cut and color, she remarked that my hair was so much easier to work with and style. I’d agree! After the product “wore off,” my hair went back to its usual curl pattern; no damage or permanent changes to hair texture. Over all, I’d still rate this five stars; although the treatment didn’t last as long as a professional one may have, you can’t beat it for the price. Make sure you use gentle, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. I’ll be applying it again in the fall- it’s too hot and humid for a day spent with a straightener in the summer!
