I’m nearly 50 years old and my preferred makeup style is simple; moisturizing primer, a basic foundation, fill the eyebrows a touch, a tinted lip balm, and maybe some blush if I feel pale. I’ve tried most big brands of foundations, from drugstore brands up to the most expensive department store items, but never really found an ideal match in a comfortable foundation until trying this product. I have cool-toned, fair combination skin and most foundations look and feel too thick, settling into pores and creases. My skin is also pretty sensitive, so I avoid anything with scents or heavy consistencies because they can cause rashes and breakouts.This foundation is almost white out of the tube but after application and light blending, it matches my skin perfectly and evens my skin tone very well. It feels light and not at all sticky or heavy. I can’t feel it any more than my moisturizer. While I wouldn’t consider it to be moisturizing on its own, it’s not drying at all. The big test for me today was a visit to the dentist. After X-rays and cleaning, the foundation hadn’t rubbed off or gathered in spots, as I’ve come to expect from almost every brand. My skin still appeared soft and healthy with consistent coloration and texture.This has become my daily foundation and I see no reason to swap to anything else. The price here is far better than any competitors as well.I’ve seen some mention that the color didn’t match their skin well. I would advise that you still need to choose the right tone for your skin. I couldn’t apply a dark or warm tone to my pale cool skin and expect it to match. I do hope they’ll release a broader range of colors for a more diverse group of customers as it’s still pretty limited to light skin tones.

I hardly ever write reviews, but this Almay Ageless Smart Shade Foundation is honestly the best make up choice I’ve ever made. I’m 63 with uneven skin tone. My whole adult life I’ve been searching for a foundation that;1) matches my aging light neutral complexion2) doesn’t feel heavy and get caught in pores3) provides even coverage that isn’t chalky and lasts all day4) doesn’t cost and arm and a leg.This product is the Unicorn; peerless perfection. I got Fair and was concerned it would be too light, but it’s perfect.

Leans orange.
I wanted to love this – the coverage is GREAT and it goes on very smooth, but for an ivory/light shade to be so unforgivably orange. . . I’m a pale girl and it is a struggle to find a good match, but a look at myself in the sun and realizing I look like a lightly baked oompa loompa was not the look I was going for. If you are pale and have a pink undertone, skip this item.

Magic! It’s magic I tell you! Try it!
I bought this because I traveled and forgot my makeup – this was available, inexpensive and delivered overnight. Being an Almay product I knew it would be gentle for my sensitive skin. But I had no idea how much I would love it! It comes out whitish and then adjusts to your skin tone like magic! My sister in law and her sister who both have different tones than I do (and each other) tried it, and it worked for all of us! After many years and hundreds (if not more) of dollars trying to find THE holy grail lightweight foundation that still gives decent coverage, I am so thankful I stumbled onto this! I receive compliments all of the time. Try it! You’ll not regret it.

This product turned my skin orange. Great for Halloween but I couldn’t wear it any other time. soo disappointed.
