Gorgeous Scent and Doesn’t Dry Hair
I am obsessed with the scent of this shampoo. With any hair product, the first thing you notice is definitely the way it smells, and the smell of the Degrease Moisture Control is absolutely gorgeous. This shampoo contains lemon, rosemary, and basil, and that is definitely the smell that comes across. It’s a very herbal, soothing scent that reminds of the products used in nice spas. It’s odd – I find the scent relaxing at night thanks to the rosemary, and invigorating in the mornings thanks to the lemon. It’s such a unique, beautiful smell.But the scent alone isn’t why I adore this shampoo. While a lot of degrease shampoos leave hair incredibly dry, even when you follow up with a conditioner, this product leaves hair soft and vibrant. One of my biggest priorities when styling my hair is achieving volume at my roots, and this shampoo does an amazing job of that, even though it isn’t sold as a volumizer. However, by truly removing excess product build-up and oil at the scalp, it allows my hair to no longer be weighed down at the root, and to have a lot more volume.This shampoo works a little differently than normal shampoos, and you have to make sure you read the directions, which tell you to let it sit on your scalp for about three minutes. It tingles a little bit, but by no means stings or irritates. My favorite trick when using this shampoo is to copy what stylists in salons do when they prepare your hair to be washed. Before you get in the shower, brush your hair thoroughly, and give yourself a light scalp massage with the pads of your fingers. This breaks up the oil and dirt at the roots and allows you to really thoroughly cleanse your scalp when you shampoo. Between using that trick and this shampoo, my scalp has never felt cleaner, and the health and vibrancy of my hair at the roots is absolutely stunning.This shampoo is a perfect solution for anyone with an oily scalp. It’s incredibly effective, but also very gentle. My sister has a very dry hair type and no issues with oil at the roots, but she actually likes to borrow this as a once-a-week clarifying shampoo. I think it is perfect for that, and can be used to deeply cleanse the scalp, even for those who only need such a thorough cleansing once a week or month.

This is a good shampoo, great for my sensitivities. Does remove shampoo and other buildups without stripping your hair. I Wish it were a bigger bottle, but you don’t need a lot of it.

I really do enjoy testing out products for my body. To see what works, the benefits, and the drawbacks. I was looking for a shampoo to address the sebum build up and my itchy scalp because my prior shampoo was just making everything worse. After my first wash, my hair felt great, my scalp was clean and refreshed and no itching at all! While using this product, my job was to sanitize laboratory equipment. That means there is a ton of alcohol being sprayed around my hair. With this shampoo I was able to clean the sweat and oil that built up from working, and at the same time restore my alcohol frizzed hair to balance.I loved the scent and exciting went ahead and purchased another bottle so I could have no delay in my routine. I quit my the lab job and continued to use the same routine and found the shampoo to actually dry my scalp and hair more than usual. The itching came to a point where I had to shampoo twice a day to relieve it. I wasn’t even all the way through with the first bottle and now I reluctantly had a second bottle sitting around. Maybe my scalp grew accustomed to the formula. Their email support suggested it was a change of seasons, but I started using the shampoo in October till February and the winter didn’t seem to have any effect all those months. Needless to say, I kindly requested Maple Holistics to stand by their satisfaction guarantee and send me another bottle of a different formula. After a long wait between emails, they stood by their claim and told me to provide an address where they will send me the new shampoo.I’ve still yet to see any bottle in my mailbox and that was back in February….If my customer experience was a little better in handling my issue I would have enjoyed this shampoo a lot more. I would love to try out one of their other formulas, however the price is a bit steep to take the chance.***UPDATE 06/26/14:Maple Holistics support contacted me and apologized for the previous mishap. They sent me another bottle of Degreaser and their Sage Shampoo right away. This interaction was with a different support member and much better than my previous experience. I’m now testing their Sage shampoo every other day and will produce a review of that when I feel I gathered enough data.
