(Addendum to original review.). So- this shampoo bar did not help whatever weird condition is afflicting my scalp. However- I am giving this bar five stars, because Kitsch, as a company, is providing a level of incredible customer service that has become increasingly rare. All I can say is I now know this company really, really cares about its customers.So- though this product may not have worked for me- I am absolutely going to try other Kitsch products. I am happy to support a company that cares so much for what people think about their products. Again- the product itself was a pleasure to use. And itâs a good buy, because if kept dry, you are going to get a lot of use out of it.My point is: the standards of this company, and the quality of their products, have made sure I remain a Kitsch customer. I’ve tried several, but none of them seem to help with what is going on. Since moving to the Midwest from the West Coast years ago, my scalp has been really dry and, about a month after moving here, a patch of hair the size of my palm just dropped off the top of my head. This hair eventually grew back, but it will not grow longer than about 3/4 of an inch. I’ve been to lots of doctors and had cortisone injections (I also tried Minoxidil) and tried a million dandruff and anti-fungal and other treatment shampoos, and nothing has gotten rid of the dryness. It’s not dandruff- the doctors let me know that. They just don’t know what is going on. My scalp almost gets a granular feel to it. I’ve also tried many scalp scrubs, which provide some temporary relief, but the weird granular dryness always returns.I think the only way I’ll be able to get rid of the scalp thing is to move back to live next to the ocean. Financially, that is not an option right now, so I remain stranded in the dried-out flatness for the foreseeable future.The positive reviews for this shampoo bar made it sound effective, and also studies have shown that rice water really can encourage hair growth. The shampoo bar went on sale for Prime Day, so I thought why not give it a try.The bar itself is pleasant to use. It had no obvious scent that I could detect. I found the bar held together, even in the stream of water from the shower. I initially used it by rubbing the bar on my scalp until it foamed up, then used my rubber scalp scrubber as usual. I didn’t use any conditioner after the first time, as I wanted to gauge as accurately as possible the product had on my scalp.After my hair dried, I noticed that my scalp was once again covered in a weird layer of dryness. I then applied some leave-in scalp treatment, and that helped, but I realized sadly that it was looking like this shampoo bar was making the condition of my scalp worse. My hair felt fine- it didn’t feel “stronger,” but it felt clean. It was just that my scalp still felt dry, and strange.The next time I used it, I worked up a lather between my hands, then applied the lather to my scalp, as opposed to rubbing the bar on my head. I let the lather sit on my scalp for at least two minutes, then used the scalp scrubber, then rinsed, then followed with conditioner. Again, after my hair and scalp dried, I noticed the layer of dryness on my scalp seemed a bit worse.The next time I shampooed, I used a clarifying shampoo to try to reduce the layer of crud on my scalp. After my hair dried this time, my scalp was much less congested, and felt much cleaner and refreshed.So– this product is just not for me. I wish it worked, as I can tell the bar, if it is allowed to dry, should last for quite awhile, and I was hoping to see some growth-boosting effects, as some have. However I am looking for something to improve the condition of my scalp, and this shampoo bar is obviously not working.

Better than I expected!
Iâve been using g this bar for about 3 months now and I have nothing bad to say about it! My hair is so soft and smooth! After suffering fromCovid for the past 5 yrs, my hair was dry and falling out. This shampoo did the trick for me.I lather the shampoo in my hands and put it on my top roots, then lather the shampoo again, rinse my roots and lather the rest of my hair and leave it in for a few minutes. My hair is clean and my hair loss has decreased significantly and my shine and bounce are back.I will definitely use this again in the future. It is an outstanding product!

Healthier Hair? YES!
From the first time using this all-natural shampoo bar you will know that it lives up to its promise: healthier hair! Great lather, nice fragrance, easy to use, economical, perfect for traveling, and lasts a long time. I especially like that it is all natural and will not harm color-treated hair. Some shampoo bars are quite expensive, but this one is a bargain in comparison! Honestly, I noticed a difference from Day One. Having long hair, with this shampoo bar I am able to end my previous routine of needing to wash my hair every day. Very satisfied with my purchase and declare my recommendation!

Pleasantly surprised
I have tried shampoo bars in the past, and they made my hair very greasy no matter what tips and tricks I tried. This one does not do that! I do have to rinse longer than the traditional liquid shampoo to get it all out, but it leaves my hair so soft. My fiancé tried it and he loves it too. The only reason I didnât give it five stars is because Iâve noticed a lot of white flakes in my hair, my dry scalp flaking more than normal. Iâm not sure if itâs the shampoo that is causing it or if the shampoo is helping to lift the dry skin off of my scalp better. So I did buy a shampoo massaging brush to try when I wash my hair to see if that helps. Either way, itâs not enough to make me not use this. I definitely recommend giving it a try. The smell is very subtle and pleasant as well. I will definitely be buying again. Oh and it seems like my hair can go an extra day between washes without getting as greasy. Iâm only washing my hair twice a week now instead of three times.Con: I do feel like this makes my hair more tangled. So you definitely need a detangling spray to put in your hair when you brush it afterwards.

Nice scented shampoo bar. I was hesitant to try the soap option as a shampoo bar, but it works great. It lathers nicely, has a great scent, doesn’t leave a film in my hair and my hair is super soft afterwards.

Build up and temporarily overwhelming fragrance
I got this bar based on a Wirecutter review and then discovered that my sister uses another kitsch shampoo bar which she loves. I really love the idea of getting as many plastic bottles out of my life as possible. I also thought a bar like this would be ideal for travel.I have been using it for a few weeks now. The jury is still out.First, I am very sensitive to scent and out of the package, this bar had an overwhelming fragrance. I thought it might âoff gasâ in a couple of days, and it did, but I nearly tossed it out on day one because of the smell. I read that all the scents they use are all natural – I have had bad headaches in the past from artificial fragrance but do okay with essential oils – which is why I waited it out and it did dissipate after a few days. It is not unpleasant once it calms down and isnât too strong on my hair.It lathers up great for me. I am guessing it all depends on your water.My disappointment is because there seems to be a residue buildup that makes my hair feel dirtier faster than it used to with a bottled shampoo. My sister has had the opposite experience with a different bar (her hair seems to feel cleaner for longer) so it may be the rice water in this bar, I donât know.I will continue to use this for a while longer to see if it helps with fall out. Or I may alternate use with some other shampoo to see if that helps with the build up. I am sad that this didnât work as I had hoped, but am willing to keep trying for a little while longer. I was hoping to find my âforever shampooâ

First time trying bar shampoo and Iâm a convert! I love the scent, love the convenience, and it travels well while not being yet another liquid I have to try and fit in my carry on. Left my hair super soft, doesnât leave a buildup, and it lathers better than some sulfate free shampoos Iâve tried in bottles. I went with the ultra hydrating conditioner too and it smells amazing with lots of softness, shine, and hydration!!! And I mean who doesnât love less plastic?!?! Iâll be buying this from now on and am telling everyone I know to try it.

I really like this bar. Iâm not sure if itâs helping my hair but I really like it. Iâve used another soap bar before but my hair would always feel waxy afterwards. Kitsch lathers up really well, has lasted over a month and still have plenty left. I think it could last me another two months and Iâve been washing my hair every 2-3 days because of my workouts and saunas. It cleanses really well and if Iâve used a bit too much rosemary oil in my hair, it removes it after two washes. Hair growth is a bit hard to tell as Iâve just had an iron infusion so Iâm not sure if itâs one or the other or both thatâs helping my hair growth.Delivery was super fast and I will definitely be buying more soon. Very happy with this product.

My husband & I both love Kitsch’s Rice Shampoo Bar! I especially love it because it is so gentle on my bleached hair (which is then coloured baby pink) & does not fade my colour at all! Since I tone my hair a very light pink it usually never lasts more than a couple weeks – shampooing about 3 times a week. With the Rice Bar it doesn’t seem to fade much at all. This is the first shampoo (and I have tried many) that has not significantly faded my hair colour, while thoroughly cleansing it and leaving it incredibly soft – So soft that I can get away without conditioning it – which is unheard of with bleached hair!That said, I purchased the Rice Conditioning Bar as well and it is wonderful!My husband & I use the Rice Shampoo Bar from head to toe. We find it is a very good body wash as well – one & done. I will definitely be repurchasing!
